Position Overview: The Role

We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated CAD Technician – Electrical to join our large engineering group in Bangalore or Mumbai. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical design activities and supporting our engineering team. You will use your expertise in AutoCAD to prepare a wide range of 2D and 3D electrical drawings for both brownfield and greenfield facilities. This position requires strong technical skills, the ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and a proactive approach to project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and modify detailed electrical drawings using 2D/3D AutoCAD software based on information supplied by engineers.
  • Prepare a variety of drawings, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), block diagrams, equipment layouts, earthing layouts, and cable routing drawings.
  • Utilize lighting design software, Navisworks, and Revit as required.
  • Proactively coordinate with other discipline groups to gather the necessary information for electrical design.
  • Generate material take-offs from 2D and 3D drawings to assist with the project estimating process.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining proper CAD standards and procedures across the business.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: An Electrical Engineering qualification (Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree).
  • Certification: An Autodesk AutoCAD Certified User certification or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds 4351) is required.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Excellent CAD skills with considerable hands-on experience using AutoCAD software.
    • The ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models.
  • Attributes:
    • A self-motivated individual who is also a strong communicator and team player.
    • Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to estimate the time required for tasks.
