Position Overview: The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated R&D Test Lab Engineer to join our High Voltage Business team in Bangalore. This is a unique, hands-on opportunity to take charge of establishing and managing a new Capacitor testing lab. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the lab, from procuring and commissioning new equipment to obtaining and maintaining lab certification. The core of your role will be to conduct electrical testing on Medium Voltage (MV) capacitors according to IEC/IEEE standards and perform detailed root cause analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Lab Setup & Management

  • Lead the procurement and commissioning of new machines and equipment for the new Capacitor testing lab.
  • Manage the process of obtaining and maintaining lab certification.
  • Establish and foster a strong safety culture within the lab, ensuring compliance with all Hitachi Energy safety and integrity values.

Testing & Analysis

  • Conduct detailed testing of Medium Voltage (MV) capacitors as per relevant IS, IEC, and IEEE standards.
  • Prepare test setups, define test protocols, and maintain meticulous records of all testing activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis on test failures and create comprehensive development and analysis reports.
  • Support GPS, Engineering, and Production teams with the outcomes of testing and analysis.
  • Handle and support customer inspection activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: A Diploma or B.E. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in an electrical testing lab environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.
    • Hands-on experience in the testing of electrical components.
    • Knowledge of relevant IS, IEC, and/or IEEE standards.
  • Professional Attributes:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • The ability to work independently with general supervision.
