Job Summary:
We are looking for a Solar Design Engineer with expertise in photovoltaic system design and AutoCAD. This role involves conducting system sizing calculations, optimizing designs for efficiency, and ensuring high-quality solar engineering solutions.
Responsibilities:
🔹 Production Management
- Perform system sizing calculations (equipment sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, etc.)
- Conduct solar resource assessments and energy yield estimations
- Develop bill of materials (BOM) for system components
🔹 Delivery Management
- Evaluate photovoltaic engineering designs using AutoCAD
- Assess site layouts, property blueprints, array configurations, and electrical diagrams
- Optimize system efficiency and recommend design improvements
- Maintain accurate documentation and generate reports on design evaluations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution
🔹 Team Mentorship
- Guide & train junior team members in solar design best practices
- Evaluate performance and provide feedback for skill development
- Promote knowledge sharing within the team for enhanced productivity
- Align team efforts with company objectives and project success
🔹 Project Oversight
- Ensure quality assurance of all solar designs, meeting industry standards and safety regulations
- Track project timelines and mitigate potential delays
- Work closely with clients and teams to ensure seamless execution
Requirements:
✅ Technical Skills
- Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD (layer management, XREFs, etc.)
- Strong understanding of photovoltaic system design and solar energy optimization
- Basic drafting principles and mathematical skills
- Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) and local building codes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel
✅ Communication & Organization
- Strong English communication skills (verbal & written)
- High attention to detail and effective documentation skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings from other engineers
- Client collaboration skills for smooth project execution
Qualifications:
🎓 Education:
- BE/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
📅 Experience:
- 1+ years in CAD & Engineering services industry
- 0.5 – 1 year experience in US Solar Design is a plus
